Day 1 - I land in a pile of sand

Day One of - Yohoho! Puzzle Pirates -

Landed in sand... and not much of it.

Rescued by Weathered Mary who showed me around the ship and taught me how to work the bilge.

She gave me a few coins and a bandana and dropped me off at the next inhabited island.

Day 2 - Turtlemeat

I'm on the island of Guava. For an island, it sure is teeming with people. Finding work seems easy here. The shops are all hiring, and there seem to be regular ships in and out of port.

Put my skills to work and hopped a boat to Cnossus, maintaining the bilge.

On landfall, I hit a tavern. Met Turtlemeat. After challenging me to several rounds of drinking games, she challenged me to a bit of swordplay.

Note: Swordplay after drinking games is bad....

especially if you lost the drinking games...

badly.

Day 3 - First battle at Sea!

Drunk and broke. Have a foil, though. Silly name for a sword.

Met Barrett Blank. He's looking to hire a crew to set sail to do some pillaging, and I need money - a winning combination.

We engaged another ship. From the hold (I'm working bilge) I can hear the cannons firing. Hoping everyone is ok up top

I've been called up top to help work the sails. Thankfully, it's not a difficult task and my efforts are helping. The volleys are still being exchanged. Chicklette is keeping the cannons loaded and ready. Barrett is keeping the ship in motion and avoiding the return fire rather well. We've grappled the other ship and are boarding!

The battle went well! It was an even match of 5-man crews. Sword isn't much different than dagger and spear so, now that I'm sober, I was able to hold my own. Barrett seemed pleased with the cargo we pulled from their ship.

Hired help was sent back down below to patch holes and bilge.

Bilging is relaxing.
It is mindless and
I get paid for it.

The booty from the trip paid for a nice set of boots once we docked.

Day 4 - Yawl come back now, y'hear?

Signed up with another crew. Captain of the ship was Yawl.

This sail put a good few coins in my pocket. Ended the day with solid purse of 1200 pieces of eight.

Yawl asked if I was interested in signing up with a crew. He presented me with papers on rules and the breakdown of shares. It looked very enticing.

He said the magic words: "Do you want to be a pirate? Sign these forms and I can make you a pirate in our crew."

Signed and sealed.

I am now officially a pirate for Carpe Nox.

Docked at Wrasse Island.

Spent all my cash on a decent shirt and a bandana.

It's a very nice bandana, I might add.

Day 5 - Meeting the crew

I got a chance to meet the crew today. Knitro, Lilac Girl, Taslan, and a few others.

An 8-man crew was formed and we took out the Complicated Sailfish for the evening. We got into a few skirmishes with other ships but from Knitro's concentration on sailing, it seemed those were only a diversion on our way to our destination.

One of the crew memmbers took some time to explain a bit about this new world to me. The guild has a vested interest in Spring Island, it seems. They've established several shops there and maintain a decent sized fleet out of that port. Guava and Spring are only two of the several islands in that particular archipelago, and I am told there are several known archipelagos in the ocean we are currently sailing.

When we arrived at the island, I closed up the bilge and headed to shore to find... nothing.

Sleder, one of the head officers of the crew, saw my puzzled look and clarified things. They landed here to gather wood. The wood is to build a shipyard.

This had me interested. Is it to build a base? To facilitate trade? Construct a fleet? Whatever the case, they seemed eager and anxious to gather up the lumber and resources from the island.

The hold full, we departed. Looking forward to what the next day brings.

Day 6 - A tournament!

A tournement was running at the Inn on Guava.

Note to self: Do not enter tournaments for sports you suck at.

Won first swordfight, and lost the second one. 67 total people competing for a purse of 5000 pieces of eight (poe). Nice little sum for the winner.

And speaking of little sums... I'm broke again.

I decided to relocate to Sping Island. Took a ferry there and then transfered my money from the various banks to that one. A hefty chunk was taken out in fees, but it was better than sailing to each island to go get it. What little was left, I invested in a weapon upgrade.

Shopkeeper told me it would be about a day and a half to complete it. Looking forward to my new dirk. Yellow guard with a green hilt. 1600poe but it should do better than this ratty foil.

Killed time jobbing with Turtlemeat's buddies.

Day 10 - Imperio's victory celebration

No clue what happened on Day 9. If anyone fills me in, I'll add it to the diary.

Woke up with a fierce headache. Lots of noise and people everywhere. Asking around, I found that several months ago Imperio colonized Spring several months ago and built it to what it is today. The festivities going on now are a celebration of that. Went to the docks and met a rather regal looking fellow named Parthanos. He was handing out clothes in the colors of the Imperio flag.

There were tournaments straight through the night. Drinking, swordfighting, luck of the draw. Everything from poe to whole war ships were given away. These guys definitely know how to throw a party.

Still hung over from work.

Sleepeth.
