Another Sunny Morning

Kudos awoke that morning in Magincia's Justice Hall, sunlight painfully scorching his swollen eyelid. Lifting head from the table, he clutched head, remnants of ale send throbbing waves of pain throughout his body and mind. Moaning and cursing to himself, he strained to open eyes, finally getting past the initial burst of pain he squinted looking confused about his surroundings.
'What the hell?" Blinking and rubbing temples he gathered thoughts wondering how or when he got here. Broken glass on the floor, remnants of food, his horse peacefully chewing on the velvet chair cover...Blurry images finally started taking in shape and form another sunny morning.
Kudos got up, stumbling over the table, and holding on to the edge of it stared out of the window. His memory was betraying him. What happened? Why was he here...again.
Digging his bag he found an almost empty bottle of liquor and emptying it in one gulp started thinking. Thoughts didn't come easy, his body ached from sleeping in an uncomfortable chair, and his face ached from a fresh bruise. Rubbing face, he remembered dimly a girl..young girl...but no face or name came into view. He did something...no, she did....
Cringing and moaning Kudos climbed on his horse, and stuffing its mouth with old apples covered with ale-goo, started riding into town.

It was not the first time he had awaken in a place and had not remembered how he got there. Nights that he spent drinking, fighting, telling lies and at times...who knows what else all seemed a blur in the morning. And every morning it seemed as if his mind was becoming a bit duller, a bit...crueler...a bit remorseful? As if unnoticeable trace of consciousness left in him was reminding him of something he did.

Riding unto the southern bridge Kudos cursed at the sun that hit him in full force, and pulled down his hat. Mumbling about lack of trees and cool shade, he stopped for a minute near one of the bridge's pillars. ' Right here, I stood...and then....what the HELL was her name?' Becoming infuriated with his lack of memory about the past night he dug the heels in horse's side and rode onward.

He recalled a young girl, she was pretty. He recalled also that they went to a tavern...he bought her something. Scratching chin, Kudos realized to check his purse. With a sigh of relief he counted enough gold to buy himself a full bottle.

She was young, that is all he could remember. They talked..about? ' Oh, who cares..." - Kudos muttered to himself. He was drinking heavily...what happened then? Why does he have a bruise?

Riding into Ben Khans', he angrily urged Janet to hurry up with his drink, and after finally getting his precious fuel for the day he turned the horse towards the bank.
Thus began another day..another haze, another day of frustration with trying to recall yesterday.
Kudos had not realized that a drink or two became more than a habit, it was something taking him through the day.
Throwing his brand new valorite plate in the bank box, he looked up at the sun, taking in the pain, hoping maybe it'll trigger the memory, but to no avail. ' What the HELL was her bloody name?!" Cursing came out from him, putting any sailor to shame, as he pulled on his mage hat.
'Kal Ort Por' - Kudos chanted as the blurry surroundings became familiar hut in the woods. Zhelavar was still asleep, and Kudos quietly not to wake her up tip-toed into the room falling flat on his bed. Mumbling curses he drifted back to sleep once in a while groaning from headache.
